Welcome to the Adventures of Pee Wee and Tinfoil. This story is about two unique characters finding friendship and comfort where you least expect it. One spring morning, a lonely worm named Pee Wee has a chance encounter with a yellow finch named Tinfoil. After sharing their struggles of feeling loneliness, grief, and not belonging, they quickly realize that they are not so different and begin an unlikely friendship. This story takes children and parents on a magical journey of empathy and understanding with heartfelt words and beautiful illustrations. Based on my own experience in talking to my children about these feelings, I know that these conversations can be hard. I hope this book provides a compassionate way to open a dialog between parents and children and a safe space to explore their feelings.
The Adventures of Pee Wee and Tinfoil
The Author
Corey Manning is life-long musician and passionate storyteller who believes in teaching the power of empathy and understanding. Drawing from personal experience, Manning crafts heartfelt children’s stories that explore universal themes including loss, grief, friendship and belonging.
As the father of five and an active farmer, Manning has observed first-hand the relationship between children, animals and the natural world. By focusing on the unique personalities of animals, his stories not only entertain, but provide a way for parents to have difficult conversations, and a safe space for children to explore their feelings while learning valuable coping skills.
Manning’s commitment to fostering compassion extends to his community, where he harvests an average of 3,000 pounds of fruit and vegetables annually for Farm to Pantry, which distributes food to local homeless shelters and food banks.
He’s also a peer counselor for Men Evolving Non-Violently (MEN), a nonprofit that specializes in helping men through crises and is active with Raven Drum Foundation which provides alternative therapies through rhythm and music to first responders and veterans who are dealing with trauma.
When not writing, Manning can be found on his farm in Sonoma County, California with his wife Emily, his daughter Grace, and their two dogs and four cats.
